FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE
Functional medicine is a patient-centered approach that focuses on the prevention and reversal of chronic illnesses. Functional doctors look at and treat the whole system, not just symptoms. As part of our new program, individuals in the APluscare community now have the opportunity to be seen by Vincent Leonti, MD, one of the most highly regarded functional physicians in New Jersey. Dr. Leonti works with individuals to determine and correct potential nutrient depletions caused by their medications. He also uses functional testing to evaluate and treat gut bacteria abnormalities to help individuals improve their digestive, hepatic, neurological, and immune function.
Dr. Leonti graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical University and has been Board Certified in family medicine since 1984. He practiced conventional family medicine and emergency medicine for 33 years before starting his study of functional medicine in 2016. He is currently enrolled in the Institute for Functional Medicine and Functional Medicine University, where he is in the process of certification. His interest in functional medicine was inspired by the work of his daughter, an integrative and functional nutritionist. The two opened their own practice, Princeton Integrative Health, in 2017.
